Video Release: Coast Guard assists with rescue of hiker at Multnomah Falls, Ore.

ASTORIA, Ore. - A 26-year-old hiker is seen waving from the side of a mountain near Multnomah Falls, Ore., where he became trapped Feb. 22, 2010.

A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Astoria, Ore., responded to the scene after being contacted by the Multnomah County Sheriff's Department.

The helicopter crew was unable to lower a rescue swimmer to the hiker due to the angle of the treeline along the mountain ridge but was able to advise members of the Portland Mountain Rescue Team on a possible route to the man. (Coast Guard Video by PA2 Shawn Eggert)
